Porcupine Quill

Porcupine Quills are great for using to inscribe on candles for your candle magic. They are great for using in any protection ritual due to their nature of protecting the porcupine from predators. Other magical uses include:  defence magic, cursing/hexing, inner strength, and uncrossing.

Strikingly beautiful. Lightweight, yet powerful and strong, these are a testament to the effectiveness of natural selection and evolution. They keep this fascinating animal safe, and are quite pretty as well. 

The porcupine is a symbol of faith, innocence and trust, when that trust is broken then the quills come out. This is a very docile animal, it does not shoot its quills as many believe and it is in that fact, that the quills make for an excellent defensive fetish.

An old native american tradition was to make talismans out of porcupine quills for protection and the guidance of the ancestors. They would make a lot of their jewellery from porcupine quills, as well as many other adornment items. Each quill on a porcupine is a symbol of an ancestor that came before them. This makes them amazing for connecting with your family of ancestors and connecting with their ancient knowledge and their way of life. This ancient knowledge combined with the trusting docile nature of the porcupine assists in gaining knowledge of living in harmony with the land and other animals. Porcupines are associated with earth magick and allow you to access the earth for strength and guidance.
